Hello, my name is Alisa and my pronouns are She/Her/They/Them
My goal is to provide a therapeutic space for adolescents, adults, and families to promote resiliency and agency. My specializations include trauma, anxiety, depression, gender-affirming therapy, and attachment-focused therapy.
I practice from the social work value that we are all experts in our own lives with the understanding that individuals and families seeking therapeutic supports are often doing so because of experiencing depression or anxiety, as well as more generalized feelings of being stuck and hopeless. Therapy provides a space to recognize and gain insight on your strengths as well as identifying areas for healing and recovery. I encourage feedback at the end of the session and will review at intake therapeutic modalities that have been helpful, or less so in any previous counseling.
My post-graduate experience includes working with a variety of populations in community mental health settings. The majority of individuals and families I have had the opportunity to work with have experienced trauma; whether within an intimate partner or family relationship, through historical trauma, or in an institutional setting. Through this work, I have gained an appreciation for the benefits of therapy that is both Trauma-Informed and Evidence-Based.
I provide therapy from an integrative psychotherapy approach aligned with Person-Centered Theory and Strengths-Based Theory. I operate from an anti-oppression, harm reduction, social justice orientation and draw from family systems theory, attachment theory, and trauma theory.
